Massive and delicious BBQ burger. My son had the BLT and his biggest complaint was too much bacon. Even the chicken salad sandwich was excellent. Will definitely eat there again. My only complaint was the AC was out and it was toasty inside and out on a 100 day.

Food was descent and priced accordingly I thought at $9.60 for a french dip can't go wrong. However counting tables outside there were only 5 other tables besides us. Then why did it take an hour to get our food? Waitress did keep drinks full but slow service (kitchen not waitress) has us wondering if we would return. It was 2:00 so no lunch or dinner rush.

Food was fair, ribeye was cut wrong, service SUCKED! But Debbie was a help to make things right. The waiter was not around much, when one in our party asked for desert, waiter said "we are out of most things" and walked away, he did not like to stay on the area, we were outside on patio. I will visit again, but will ask for Debbie, and will give her a proper tip. Also, this is another one of those restaurants that wants to push local beers, but craft brews rarely make lagers because they are harder to brew, so they have ales and IPA's but there are still a few of us who like lagers on draft, but I guess we are just SOL!

My husband and I met my mother in law for lunch here today. The pros were the warm fireplace and its a great location. Other than that, I was not impressed with this place. Started with spinach/artichoke dip. It was ok. Hubs ordered the turkey burger and salad. MIL ordered lobster bisque and BLT. I got the lobster bisque and Caesar salad. My Caesar salad was not good. Too much dressing with an unappetizing sweet taste. The lobster bisque was palatable but with tiny specks of sawdust sized "lobster". It just really seemed like it came from a powder mix. Not judging, just stating an opinion. But I did like the atmosphere. Maybe I just ordered wrong.
(3)John F.
Lobster bisque is excellent. Phill cheese steak was big and filling. No need for the fries, they are worth passing on.

Braddens is fantastic! The cutest little restaurant on main street. We always get wonderful, fast service with a smile. The food is amazing! We always go for the Wednesday steak special! Great value and great price! I suggest requesting David for your server. He is quick, witty, and full of energy! Always does a bang up job!
(5)Mike H.
Oh wow. Another of my top 3 restaurants in St Charles County! Unbelievable German chocolate upside down cake. Had the Reuben which is a favorite!!!!
(5)Ron W.
Had the southwestern omelet. Great taste. Topped with iceberg lettuce, which was unexpected but nice. Limited breakfast menu, but all items that fit my palette. Featured desserts of cobbler and butter cakes, unfortunately I didn't have room for a treat after such a large entree.

We were down on main street for the first Saturday of the Christmas celebrations and everywhere was packed. I've been here for a wedding reception, but never dined in for dinner. Like a lot of places on main street, this place is cozy with a lot of character. It is not big at all, but the tables turned quick and we were sat in about 20 minutes. I was in the mood for a different type of beer, so I tried a couple they had on draft. I don't think they had a huge selection, but I had a couple I never tried before. Our waitress was very good and tolerated my obnoxious grandfather very well. He likes to give servers trouble in a joking kind of way and she knew exactly how to give it back and he approved. We had some chips and onion rings to start. The chips appeared to be home made and were semi thick, not too crunchy and that is exactly the way I like them. The rings appeared to be shipped in, but still good. I had the River Cafe burger. It has BBQ sauce, bacon and onion rings. It was stacked high and was impressive looking. The burger was just a tad dry, but other than that, it was at least a three napkin burger. Instead of fries, I opted for a side salad to reduce my guilt for eating the artery hardening burger. The salad and dressing was small, but tasty. Bradden's was a nice alternative to our usual visits to Lewis and Clark's and Trail Head. This place will definitely be in the mix for our future visits.

Service was slow. Food was overpriced. It wasn't bad food perse, but when you charge 15$ for a plate of Brie you're setting expectations.

A lovely breakfast on the patio under the shade of an umbrella and enjoying a lovely breeze. We both got two scrambled eggs (get the eggs any way you desire), breakfast meat (she, bacon; me, sausage -- 2, and they were BIG) potatoes and bread (she, biscuit; me, wheat). The service and server were spectacular. The meal was solid, tasty and really hit the spot. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the sausage was tasty and plentiful, the toast was well-buttered and fresh, and the potatoes were crispy-crunchy chunks. The breakfast menu isn't huge, but there are enough choices to satisfy. A man at a table close to us got the French Toast, and it was a massive pile on his plate. We didin't watch to see how he delved into that feast! Inside is beautiful dark wood. A well-appointed bar and to the left, two quaint dining rooms, one with a fireplace. Upon our departure, our server offered (and we accepted) to-go cups of our beverages. That was pretty amazing!!
(5)Greg G.
Atmosphere is great (the weather really cooperated). Eight of us were served with top notch service. Our group had different menu items ranging from soups, salads, pork chops, desserts, seafood. We had no complaints or even any side comments as often happens. On our way out of the place the collective comments were, "we'd come back here."
(4)Kristy L.
Wonderful food and service! Great atmosphere. Definitely glad we chose to eat here. Fried catfish sandwich was perfect, as were the toasted ravioli. Would definitely come back!
(4)Anna T.
The patio at Bradden's is very nice on a beautiful day. Their wine selection is fair, and their service is very friendly. Since I had such a great experience, I really wanted to find something great about the food. Unfortunately, I can only say that the food was decent. The guacamole bites were unexciting. The steak on my black-and-blue cesar salad was extremely overcooked even though I ordered it medium rare. My husband had the catfish sandwich, which he was not overly impressed with. Strangely enough, the best part of this meal was the onion rings that came with my husbands sandwich. They tasted like they had been dipped in funnel cake batter...YUMMY!
(3)Kristen R.
Ate here for first time today. The Reuben sandwich was fabulous!!!!! And I never order reubens. The cheesecake was to die for also, very large portion!!! They have a nice little patio for outdoor dining.
(5)David D.
WOW! Luck of the Irish on St. Patrick's Day! We were going to go the higher Yelp! rated place across the street but it looked deserted so we came here. Ordered the stuffed portabello shrooms which were excellent! The two gluten free ladies in the family ordered a reuben and philly steak and cheese. Us guys had the burger and reuben on bread. All were excellent and Eric, our waiter was very knowledgeable on the food, beer, and local stuff. Too much food to save room for dessert but menu was enticing... HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Would have been five stars but was a little pricey...
(4)Jennifer H.
Brunch on their upper and lower decks outside is a must. Lots of shade and lovely atmosphere. Love the sound coming from the small waterfall on the upper level. PS. Their French toast the first thing you should try. They are made with some sort of crusty bread and absolutely delicious.
(4)Dave F.
Happy hour visit on the great patio- Salad- Met a friend that was finishing a great looking grilled chicken & strawberry salad. (He has been there before & that is his favorite) Service was great with both the male served we had, the female my friend was hitting on & even the bus boy filling waters. Beer- I knew I wanted an IPA & the server brought out a bottle of "2 Hearted Ale". Great beer. The wings- Server asked if we wanted them "dirty" & I asked of that is like "trashed". He described cooked, sauced refried & sauced again & I said that it sounded good. The bone-in wings were really good tasting, sized & not over or under cooked... but not the caramelized trashed wings that I know. Mushrooms- Stuffed mushrooms with sausage & the spinach artichoke dip topping sounded great. The toppings were great, but I wished the thick Portabella mushrooms were grilled or sautéed beforehand. (Personal preference)

We went here for the dessert. The coconut cream pie is the best I've had. Del had gooey butter cake which was three different flavors of red velvet , snicker bar and original butter. It was super rich. Also ate the Reuben sandwich and lobster bisque for lunch which was also very good.

With the weather being so flipping fantastic lately, it was hard to avoid a short walk around Old Town with the wife and kid, and naturally we were looking for some place with a patio for lunch. Bradden's was perfectly located by the shops we were looking forward to visiting, and the reviews were reassuring, so we decided to give it a shot. First impressions for me was what looked like a small patio actually opens up into a multi level series of patios, which only get larger the further back you go. We were seated at a secluded table right by a small pool and waterfall built into the landscaping. It made for a nice little setting as we enjoyed a cool breeze on a gorgeous day. I ordered the River Cafe Half Pound Burger which is absolutely fantastic. It might be the best burger in Old Town, for my tastes at least. I will be honest, I was so involved in my burger, I cannot even tell you what the wife ate. I think she had the veggie burger, which she somehow enjoyed as well. (she offered me a bite to try, but why the hell would I "try" a veggie burger when I'm eating an awesome REAL burger? Crazy!) Little man had a 5oz bottle with some Enfamil, for those keeping track. Service was also pretty much on point. The glasses never went under half full, they kept up with checking in on us even after the bill was paid, never a lapse in service. My only complaint here would be in the prices. It's a given that the better restaurants will charge a bit more, but the pricing here puts the place in the realm of the "occasional" visit as opposed to the "top 5" places to eat out for me and the wife. Budgets are budgets, and despite everything else, the prices will limit my visits in the future.

Casual Dinning in an historic blding what's not to like. Simple dishes prepared well with fresh ingredients what's not to love. Had the best ever spinach and artichoke dip. Also the chicken Caesar and Spinach salad both were delish.
(3)Sara B.
If I could say no stars, I would. The worst service I have ever had!!! I'm not sure why our (and I use that term loosely) waitress even gets paid. She brought our food out at such staggered times, I wondered if she got lost. When she brought the last person their food, there was no side on the plate. She stated it would be 30 seconds and she would be back. We finally saw her again after everyone else was finished eating and all our drinks were completely empty. She never apologized (even an insincere apology would have been better than none!). Nicole P. you really are in the wrong line of work. I would never want to come back to Braddens due to the inexcusably bad service I received.
(1)Amiami M.
What an amazing little find! Food was wonderful. Portion size and presentation are great! Service was prompt and friendly. The patio was so welcoming and allowed us to enjoy a beautiful evening outside. I can't wait to try again for lunch! Dinner was awesome!!

My boyfriend and I ate here tonight for the first time, and it is definitely a little hidden gem on Main Street. Our food was amazing! We had fried pickles as an appetizer and they were crispy and delicious fried spears. We had lobster bisque and it was simply perfect! Best soup I've had ever :) The filet was the best steak I have had in years! So tender and juicy... perfectly cooked and seasoned. Our waitress, Shay, was new but very nice! All of the other workers came over and greeted us also. Very pleasant experience!!!
(5)Jericho R.
Visited Braddens last night because we had a taste card $10 off coupon and absolutely loved it. We ordered the fried pickles for appetizer which was great. Lightly breaded and tasted good. For dinner we ordered the Ribeye steak which was perfectly cooked and was so tender! It was really good. They also have a very nice selection of wines too. And for dessert we ordered Key Lime Pie wow! It was very good too. A must try!

I'm really giving this 2 stars because of the waitress alone (which I would give zero). The place has such a nice vibe that it must be better than our experience typically. It was just my husband and I on a not so busy night. I counted and I think our waitress had maybe 2 other tables. 1. When asked what beers were on tap she said she didn't know - fine. 2. When asked what the vegetable for the day was she said literally "I don't think we have vegetables" - really? Then added, "But you can get chips" - chips are offered with lunch sandwiches girl not $20+ dinners. 3. Ordered a pasta side and asked for "red or white sauce" not marinara or Alfredo - not a big deal but again we're not dining at Friday's here. 4. I asked for the black & bleu salad. She asked to look at my menu b/c she said she never heard of it. Then I had to offer how I'd want the steak cooked. Asked if I could have it with balsamic dressing. In all fairness, the menu says it's a black & bleu caesar salad but I figured it was obvious I was asking for a different dressing. Nope. When I got my salad, I immediately pored my balsamic dressing on just to take a bite and realize they've given me a salad with caesar already on it and my requested dressing on the side. When brought to her attention she said "Oh I thought that's just what you wanted" - Who wants that? 5. It took OVER an HOUR to get our food. The waitress came back 1 time and said "I'm just here to tell you they still aren't done with your food" - ok weird way to put that. Not "Can I get you anything else while they're finishing up" etc. - we were in no hurry so wait didn't bother me it was just definitely notable. 6. My husbands salad came with the meal not before - which FYI is the whole point of a salad - it's an appetizer. Also, you only had an hour to get it. 7. Sadly, on top of that the food was only ok. They pork chop itself was good and so was the steak on my salad but the sides where only ok. Not worth the amount charged. Again, I really think if we had gotten literally any other waiter/waitress it would have been a totally different experience. Her apology was more of a "It wasn't my fault but sorry your food is messed up". Then when leaving we saw her sitting at the hostess stand texting - awesome.

Brie and fruit is excellent appetizer. Really good tuna sandwich and a huge slice of coconut cream pie. Great lunch.

So very disappointed. We arrived about 5PM for dinner on a Saturday, after the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Maybe the staff had a little of the green beer? Service was terrible. Husband had two beers while we waited 45 minutes for our order. I had a sample of wine that was disgusting. It was obvious they had rinsed the glass out in cleanser and poured the wine in. After waiting and waiting I finally told my husband that I was leaving and going next door. He cleared the bill and told me the waiter blamed the kitchen. No matter whose fault it was the service was bad and left a bad taste in my mouth.
(1)Michael P.
We had salads and they were excellent, but service suffered. Servers acted like it was a chore to serve. Jasmine was our waitress. She was friendly enough, but we never saw her. We ate outside and were given a table next to a noisy air conditioner. We were not made to feel welcomed.

Recently, a relative from New Jersey came out to visit and we decided to try out this establishment. We came in on a weekday night (Thursday if correct) - it was not super busy, but we were still greeted and seated quickly by our hostess (Erica). Erica came back quickly after we were seated and drinks were ordered. A pretty good wine list was made available (of course we all want an endless list, but I was pretty happy with this one). We then tried one of the appetizers (Fried Pickles). OK, this was good...lightly breaded and just perfect. I probably could have made a meal out of it, but the next course was yet to come... I has the 12 oz Ribeye Steak...the rest of my group all had the 12 oz Strip Steak. Once ordered, we enjoyed looking around and having a nice fireplace at one end - then looking up in the main dining area and noticing the stained glass. ..definitely good decor to look at. Our steaks all then arrived...noticing the generous portion of them as well. This was going to be some meal. No steak was cooked incorrectly, the baked potato I had on the side was perfect (yes, it is really easy to under/over cook them). I enjoyed a glass (well, two) of the Cellar #8 Cabernet...went perfect with the meal. I was stuffed and we have not even had dessert as of yet. Erica brought out a list of Alice's homemade desserts. They looked great. Unfortunately, since I was pretty much stuffed, I had to pass. So...here's my grade for Bradden's...great service, great food, great price. Score an "A" - well done! (I cannot wait to go back and save room for dessert next time - heard the red velvet cake is great)

I have heard good things about Bradden's, but my experience will prevent me from ever returning. The service was superb. They were attentive, as needed, and quick (we were on a schedule that evening). Their salads were very fresh and crisp. The main entree was just okay, but my husband and I both ordered the chicken fettuccini. The pasta dishes were not necessary their forte. I would be willing to try other items on their menu. Unfortunately, their patio seating is close enough together that I ended up sitting within arm's length of two smokers. I was plainly sporting my baby bump that evening, but I was subjected to two cigarettes each during their pre-dinner drinks. I escaped the third round by using the restroom. There were at least two other smokers in near proximity to us that evening too. Their inside seating also allows smoking, and it is also smallish. One must walk through the bar to enter the restaurant and go to the restrooms. If we had not been on a tight schedule, I might have asked to be moved, although I'm not sure that would have helped because of everyone's close proximity and the next guest to sit next to me in my new seat could also be a smoker.
(2)Julie D.
Always have a good experience at Braddens. The food is good (really like their burgers) and the service is fantastic. One of our favorite places on Main St.
(4)Martin C.
An amazing selection of local craft beer, fantastic food and friendly staff! Step in, sit down and recharge!

Chef refused to make an egg white omelet. Guess his time is way too precious for people with dietary needs.

I've eaten at Bradden's several times in the past but unfortunately my most recent visit will be my last. After attending a wedding at the Ameristar the night before a group of 3 of my friends and I decided to grab breakfast in old St. Charles before heading back to the city. Since we've all been to Bradden's before, we figured we couldn't go wrong by stopping there for a quick bite to eat. We were quickly seated on the patio and expected slower service than usual since it was Father's Day. Our waitress took our drink and food order and that was the last we saw of her. We waited close to an hour before we finally waved down the waitress to get drink refills and find out where our meals were. She informed us that they had run out of eggs and that was the cause of the hold up. It took another 15-20 minutes before our food arrived. Two of us had ordered biscuits and gravy. Besides the fact that they had no flavor, my biscuits were hard as a rock and I could only eat one of them. The other two in group ordered the 2 eggs breakfast option and on one of the orders the eggs were not cooked completely through. We again had to wave the waitress down and she took the eggs to get them recooked. After finishing what we could of our meal, we asked for our checks immediately. I had gotten up and asked to speak to the manager, who happened to be another waitress on the patio. After explaining the situation, I never received an actual apology all I continued to get from her was the excuse of running out of eggs. She told me that they were rushing to get orders out and that must be the reason we received our meal uncooked. Regardless of what the situation was in the kitchen, there should never be a reason for serving uncooked food to your customers. Instead of feeding me a lame excuse about running out of product, an apology should have been the first thing out of her mouth. She then told me since we ate most of the food she would be unable to comp the meal but offered us dessert. After wasting an hour and half of my morning receiving poor service and unappetizing food, the last thing I wanted was a dessert. I refused the dessert and asked her to bring the check as quickly as possible. The waitress brought our check over and in the end the entire meal, except for drinks, was taken off the bill. The manager rushed inside when we received our bill and we never saw her again. I was astonished that as a manger she never once came over to apologize to the table for the poor service or food quality we received while visiting that morning. As an establishment who prides themselves on returning customers and referrals, it's a shame that they allow their managers to handle situations the way this one did. I will never return to Bradden's nor will I recommend this place to anyone.

5 stars for the outdoor seating area with the fire places! Love the atmosphere. 2 stars for our waiter and our meal. We ordered the grilled Tilapia, nice big piece of fish but it was rubbery and my friends' was sushi in the middle. Would have said something to the waiter, but he seemed very displeased to be serving in the first place. Anything extra was a bothersome it seemed. I would give this place another chance just because of the outdoor seating area! It was awesome, just wish the meal could have met to the expectations as well.

Wow on food and service! This is our 11th consecutive year spending a night in St Charles on our way to friends in IL, and our first time at Bradden's. We'll definitely be back! Craig was our waiter and was just awesome. I have food allergies and he said the chef would fix things any way I wanted and she(the chef) did. I had the baked spaghetti without cheese and my wife had the filet. We always share and both agreed it was the best filet we'd ever had. Craig is a beer guru and they carry a few great local brews. He also sent me to a close by liquor store to pick world class beers.
(5)Karen G.
I've eaten here a few times. The building itself is a converted home. The first time I ate here I sat in the original living room. It has a nice romantic quality in the winter with the fire going. I ordered a steak and couldn't have been more pleased. The other times I've eaten here have been for lunch in the summer on the patio. It really is one of the best patios on Main Street. Large enough to easily get a table but not so huge that it loses it's ambiance. Today I ordered the steak ribeye sandwich with fries and it was great. The service was also very attentive and friendly, Bradden's is one of my favorite places to eat in St. Charles.

My mom and I spent a day together in St. Charles doing what we do best: shopping! All that shopping made us super hungry, so I pulled up my trusty Yelp app and chose Bradden's for lunch based on previous reviews and pictures that I skimmed through. It looked charming, and who doesn't want a charming lunch with mom? We decided to eat on the large patio since there was no wait outside. It was a hot summer day, but all the tables have umbrellas to keep you shaded and cool. There are plenty of pretty plants scattered about and even a small pond with a fountain, which I thought was a nice touch. The food, however, was just okay. We both ordered the $8.00 lunch special, which is a half sandwich served with a cup of soup or small side salad. I got the turkey on sourdough topped with lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickles... I pulled the onions and pickles off though. There was an up-charge for cheese and avocado, but since our server wasn't exactly sure of that cost, I passed. I thought the sandwich tasted fine, it was just a bit too simple and bland for my liking. I mean, I don't even cook and I could have made this turkey sandwich better at home by at least adding a touch of mayo... or free cheese. The side salad was also very basic. Iceberg lettuce with shredded cheddar and tomato. I asked for the house vinaigrette dressing, but I guess the kitchen thought ranch would be better for me because that's what I ended up with. Since the food took forever and a day to get anyway, I decided not to say anything to the server because I didn't want to waste any more time... We had more shopping to do, dang it! My mom got the same side salad with a BLT sandwich, and though she mentioned it being good, she was disappointed that there were only two strips of bacon served under a mound of iceberg lettuce. Would I return to Bradden's? Probably not. This is not an area I frequent often, and there are too many other options in that particular area to settle for another okay meal. I don't care how charming it is.
(3)Michael W.
Waited more than an hour after ordering and still no food or waitress checking with us! They finally said our order fell behind the bar??? Won't b eating here again!
(1)Steven Y.
Amazing food, service and location. We started with the spinach and artichoke dip which is one of the best I've had. The Bison burger was pretty good and the sweet potato fries were tasty. My fiancé had the French dip which was SOO good. My mother in law loved her portobello mushroom sandwich. I hate some people rate as according to 5 star restaurant grading system when these reviews are meant for people to know how good a restaurant is. I want a 5 star restaurant I don't look on yelp. Luckily for you I rate according to experience and food quality. This place gets 5 stars from me.
(5)John H.
Bradens is in the hart of Old St Charles. The view from the patio is quaint. The inside is very cozy. I come form the Lobster Bisque, very good. The two for eight lunch is a great deal. Half a sandwich and a cup of soup or salad. The wait staff is excellent.
(5)Amy M.
Great Chicken Tortilla Soup!! Quick lunch time patio!
(4)Erica S.
Braddens has a new menu!! A lot of great options! Love the wrap section! Yum!
(5)Ariana F.
I ordered the baked spaghetti, which is supposed to be a specialty, and was very disappointed. It tasted EXACTLY like what I would get at Fazoli's. It wasn't that it tasted bad, but paying over $10 for something that could have cost me $4 elsewhere was a huge let down. I really expected better.
(2)Melanie E.
We came to Braddens because we had a Dining Deck discount and Yelp reviews. It was our first restaurant to enjoy as St. Charles natives after moving here from Cleveland. Yes, this is a small place if you are here in the off season when it is too cold to enjoy the patio, but the fireplace in the back room and the beautiful stained glass make the ambience inside quite worthwhile for indoor seating. We enjoyed splitting the brie appetizer ( a large portion with delicious baked bread and very fresh fruit), we also split the spinach salad and a french dip sandwich that came with a side of fries or soup. I chose the southwest tomato soup The salad was a good portion but the warm bacon dressing was a tad sweet for my taste and the pecans would have been better toasted. Still, it was a very good salad. The dip was very good as well, and a large portion. The beef was well-trimmed and tender with not-too-salty au jus for dipping. The soup was excellent and I just had it packaged to go home and enjoy later. I wished we could have sampled some of the house desserts, but was just too full! We will be returning here again!
(4)Mark H.
Outstanding food, service and atmosphere!
(5)Cody H.
A very quaint setting in old town St Charles. I opted for a simple beef brisket sandwich (open face), but there were several other, more sophisticated choices available on the menu (fillet, tilapia, etc). The sauce on the brisket sandwich was made on site, and quite tasty. They had some great homemade dessert options. I chose the coconut cream pie; it was outstanding. There is a small bar in the front and outdoor seating as well. Staff was very friendly.
(4)Ann C.
nice quiet place. Went on St. Patricks and was looking for a little more excitement but their Corned Beef and green beer were good and affordable. Music on the speakers was not very festive and that's probably why we left early and moved to another establishment

During the recent 'Festival of the Little Hills' our dinner club group decided to try Bradden's on South Main. As they did not take reservations, several of the group showed up at 6:30 p.m. and were told 1 hour wait. People arriving at 6:45 were told over an hour and those arriving at 7:00 were told at least an hour plus. After 2 hours we left.....never did get seated. The rub is the hostess was so entirely rude, belligerent fits best. She had no customer facing skills, and turned a bad situation into an unbearable one. I did ask to speak to the manager and he was most apologetic; I expressed to him the restaurant's very survival rests on people who can serve people. Don't waste your time getting abused at the front door of this place.

Delicious soup of day -- red pepper/Gouda -- grilled cheese + sandwich of day is even better -- and spinach salad looks great -- 5 star and great outdoors and waitress polite and efficient waitress -- turns she's the owners daughter in law -- too bad they're so far away from home in Florida *****
